Due to a left shoulder rotator cuff injury, Jonathan Horton will require surgery causing him to miss out on an attempt at making another Olympic team.
In an interview with the Houston Chronicle, Horton states, “It (his shoulder) was a ticking time bomb. It had been slowly giving
way without me realizing it over the last three years, and it finally went now, unfortunately, and didn’t last me until the (Rio) Games.”
This will be the second surgery Jonathan has had on his shoulders, the first was on his right shoulder.
Horton plans to come back as a parallel bar or high bar specialist in time to compete in the 2017 World Championships in Montreal, Canada.
Horton went on to state, “But if I never compete again, I did as much as I could. I’ve had a great career.”
