The first big meet of the Elite season gets underway this weekend in Chicago and will be featuring many new faces and some returning familiar ones.

The U.S. Classic is a qualifier for both the Junior and Senior Elite women to compete at the P&G Championships in Anaheim, CA on Aug. 17 – 20.

Ragan Smith (Texas Dreams Gymnastics) and Ashton Locklear (Everest Gymnastics), both alternates to the 2016 Olympic Team, will be the two big names competing this weekend.

In addition, Riley McCusker (MG Elite) who one the All-Around at the 2017 Jesolo Trophy and Morgan Hurd (First State Gymnastics) who won the bronze in the All-Around at the 2017 Stuttgart World Cup will also be competing.

A change this year will be that the 6 Junior National Team members will be competing along side the Senior women.  With so many Juniors entered into the competition this year, USA Gymnastics had to move these 6 women into the Senior session.

Even though they will be competing along side the Senior women, the 6 Junior athletes will still be vying for Junior placements and awards.

Not competing is Victoria Nguyen Chow’s Gymnastics and Dance Institute but is expecting to show at the P&G Championships.
