USA Gymnastics Verification Camp Streamed Live

USA Gymnastics has made an unprecedented move by deciding to live stream the February 25 verification camp to be held on the campus of LSU on their YouTube channel.

An expected 17 athletes will be vying for an international assignment or using the event to qualify to the American or US Classic and/or US Championships.

The roster of athletes includes;

  • Shania Adams, Buckeye Gymnastics
  • Jordan Bowers, Solid Rock Gymnastics
  • Jade Carey, Arizona Sunrays
  • Jordan Chiles, Naydenov Gymnastics
  • Audrey Davis, WOGA Gymnastics
  • Olivia Dunne, Eastern National Academy of Paramus
  • Kara Eaker, Great American Gymnastics Express (GAGE)
  • Margzetta Frazier, Parkettes National Gymnastics Center
  • Shilese Jones, Future Gymnastics Academy
  • Adeline Kenlin, Iowa Gym-Nest
  • Grace McCallum, Twin City Twisters
  • Konnor McClain, Revolution Gymnastics
  • Riley McCusker, MG Elite
  • JaFree Scott, GAGE
  • Alyona Shchennikova, 5280 Gymnastics
  • Trinity Thomas, Prestige Gymnastics
  • Leanne Wong, GAGE

International assignments up for grabs are the AA World Cups in Germany, Great Britain, Tokyo, and the alt. spot for the American Cup in Chicago.

Senior athletes vying for an international assignment or Sr. or Jr. athletes using the camp as qualify event will verify all events on firm landing surfaces.  They must perform;

  • One competitive vault on a firm, pit surface
  • Full routines on bars and beam
  • Full routine on floor
    • May use a sting mat for landings

Senior athletes vying for an event in April,  must perform;

  • One competitive vault on a semi-firm, pit surface
  • Full routines on bars and beam
    • May perform their dismounts separately or the routine in two parts
  • Full floor routine
    • Minimum of 3 passes performed within the routine
    • The 4th pass may be done separately into a semi-firm pit surface or onto a hard surface with a “light” spot

Another major change to the verification camp is that parents, chaperones, and college coaches may attend and watch the event.  Unfortunately, the event will not be open to the general public.

At the conclusion of the camp, the Athlete Selection Committee will decide which athletes will be assigned to an international assignment and the athlete’s scores.

The event will begin at 10am CST and can be viewed on USA Gymnastics YouTube channel.
