Sports Illustrated (SI) has released its list of the top 50 female & male athletes from all sports disciplines believed to be the “fittest” in the world.

SI used a 40 point scale in 4 different categories, 10 points per category, to rank the athletes in; Strength, Speed, Endurance, Agility.

Two gymnasts made the list, one who made the top 3 and another who ranked in the top 25!

Simone Biles, the reigning World All-Around Champion, made SI’s list and ranked 3rd among some of the top athletes in the world.

In yet another list, SI ranked the top 50 fittest female & male Olympians.

Also making this list was Simone Biles.  In the article, SI states they are assuming that Simone will be chosen for the 2016 Women’s Olympic Gymnastics Team.

In addition, the reigning Olympic All-Around Champion, Gabby Douglas, made the list.

Although Jake Dalton did not make this list, another male gymnast did.  Another Olympic hopeful, Donnell Whittenburg, made the list of the fittest male Olympians.

Donnell is the reigning Still Rings & Parallel Bars champion and also won the silver medal in the All-Around & Vault from the 2016 Pac Rim Championships.

As we are biased here at GBC, we feel that both the female and male gymnasts did not rank as high as they should of BUT it is great to see that SI is including our sport in their lists!

Great to see the gymnasts named in this list. They are probably among the fittest athletes on the planet! There should have been more names on the list from gymnastics, but at least it’s a good start. Looking forward to seeing more from the next edition.
