Shawn Johnson, who won 3 silver medals in Team Finals, the All-Around, & Floor and 1 gold medal on Beam in the 2008 Beijing Olympics is back in the gym training as she begins the long road to a “semi-comeback”. Shawn hopes to be joining USA Gymnastics’ Tour of Gymnastics Champions following the Rio Olympics.
Shawn had a full knee reconstruction back in March after dealing with knee issues in 2012 which had a hand in her retirement. The injury resurfaced during her appearance on Dancing with the Stars All-Stars.
Shawn told People.com, “I last performed in 2012 – a long time ago. I’m feeling good, a little nervous. My surgeon is okay with it and I started working out again about a month ago.”
The one thing that Shawn isn’t looking forward to on this comeback is putting on a leotard.
“I’m trying to get back into shape and they used the word leotard and I about had a heart attack. So I’m working on getting back into leotard shape!”
